Family safe party games
One app.Every party game.Make your own.
Koven is the party games app your whole family can open on a Friday night. Play on one phone passed around the room, on everybody’s own phone, or on the telly with phones as controllers. Then build a game of your own and hand it to the people you love.
- No download for guests. A four letter code gets you in.
- Every player made deck is reviewed before strangers can see it.
- Built for a room with a ten year old and a grandparent in it.
The games
Every party game, in one app
You do not need eight apps and eight subscriptions to have a games night. Koven holds the formats, the content packs and the decks your friends made, and it opens on whatever is already in the room.
CharadesIn the works
Act it out, no talking, no pointing at the answer. The oldest one in the book and still the loudest.
4 to 12 players
Bluff OffIn the works
Everyone writes a fake answer. Spot the real one, and score when somebody falls for yours.
3 to 10 players
Sketch ChainIn the works
Draw the phrase, guess the drawing, pass it on. Read the chain back at the end and watch it fall apart.
4 to 12 players
Quiz RushIn the works
Fast questions, faster fingers. Speed is worth points, so a confident wrong answer costs you.
2 to 16 players
ImposterIn the works
Everybody gets the word except one person. Describe it without giving it away, then vote.
4 to 10 players
Team WordsIn the works
Two teams, one grid of words, one clue at a time. The kind of game that starts arguments in the best way.
4 to 12 players
Majority RulesIn the works
There is no right answer, only the popular one. Score by guessing what the room will say.
3 to 16 players
IcebreakersIn the works
Questions worth answering, for a table that has only just met. No scoring, no losing, no rush.
2 to 20 players
Prompt DuelIn the works
Two of you get the same prompt and one minute. Everybody else reads both, with no names on them, and picks a winner.
3 to 16 players
New formats arrive as packs, so the app you install in January is a bigger app by June.
How it works
Three ways to play
Every format works in more than one of these, so the game you fancy is never the wrong shape for the room you are in.
Pass and play
One phone, passed around the room. No signal needed, no accounts, nothing to set up.
- Open Koven and pick a game.
- Say who is playing.
- Hand the phone on when the screen tells you to.
Online room
Everybody on their own phone, in the same room or three hundred miles apart. Guests join with a four letter code and no download.
- Start a room and read out the four letter code.
- Everyone opens the link and types the code.
- Play. Anyone who drops out can rejoin with the same code.
Party screen
The telly or a laptop shows the game to the whole room. Phones become controllers, so nobody has to squint at somebody else’s screen.
- Open Koven on the big screen and start a room.
- Everyone joins from their phone with the code on screen.
- The screen shows the game, your phone shows your move.
Family safe
Our family safe pledge
Family safe is not a filter we bolted on at the end. It is the reason the product is shaped the way it is. Here is what we hold ourselves to, in plain words.
Nothing reaches a stranger unreviewed
Every deck a player makes starts private and unrated. It only becomes visible to people outside your group once it has passed moderation. Sharing a deck with your own family takes one tap and no review at all.
Safe by default, not by setting
A brand new account is on the strictest settings we offer. We never ask a child to loosen their own protection, and we do not hide safety behind a menu nobody opens.
No behavioural advertising. Ever.
We do not run ads, we do not build advertising profiles, and we do not sell or rent your data. Koven is paid for by the people who play it.
Report anything in two taps
Every deck, every name and every player can be reported from the screen you are looking at, with no account needed. A person reads every report.
Grown ups get the controls
Parents and carers can see what a child has published, turn off community content entirely, and delete an account and everything in it without emailing anybody.
We collect as little as we can
No location, no contacts, no microphone. A guest joining a room gives us a name they made up and nothing else.
The detail is in the community guidelines and the privacy policy. Both are written to be read rather than skipped.
Almost open
Be in the first room
We are opening Koven to a small group at a time so that moderation stays ahead of the content. Leave your email and we will send you a link when there is space. We will email you about Koven and nothing else, and you can leave the list from any message we send.
You will get one email asking you to confirm. Nothing else happens until you click the link in it.
